Rose Haywood - Artist
Rose (C.) Haywood/moroseheartcreations, also known as 'morose' by her friends, has a history of hesitation to call herself an "artist," but has admitted that many of her first drawings were on her parents' rented walls. This is when she first heard the words "security deposit." Once as a small lad, she put a certain amount of crayons in her nose. It was then she first learned about consequences and the pains that being a human, and an "artist" can bring. And although always finding time to doodle ridiculous cartoons on her ever so patient mom's important paperwork, since graduating high-school, she, like many, had to put her time into survival, while a government employee somewhere stared into the surprised eyes of a bear-bat drinking a Slurpee, farting a heart.
While figuring out what it means to be a human and an adult in an overwhelmingly amazing, scary, painful and wild world, she continued working to put herself through school, while attempting to make good decisions, but "seemed to have failed at least half the time." While making decisions that would bring haunting growth, she also made time for other passions of hers, including environmental sustainability and protection, biking slowly, riding waves badly, dancing when no-one is watching, sitting around controlled fires with friends- singing in an uncomfortably passionate way, writing (but never sharing what she wrote), and supporting artisans and local music when she had an extra dime or two.
Of the variety of jobs Rose has experienced, while going to school and in the years that followed, she has been honored to be the Assistant to several Artists, a Non-Denominational Reverend, an Agent for International Musicians, a Professor and Published Author, an Employment Lawyer, an International Speaker, and a Non-profit focused on helping individuals heal and find one's mission in life.
Although she has had to put her creating on "the back-burner," Rose Haywood's work has been in shows at The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk Virginia, The Museum of Fine Art (MOCA) in Virginia Beach, The Neptune Festival, and the famously known Heritage Store (not to be confused with any other Heritage affiliations. The location that was near the famously known Jewish Mother). She was also fortunate to participate in a house-show with the prolific and super talented Bruner family, a Shaka's event with gifted local artists and bands in the Hampton Roads area, and has had her art in shows at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Painting with a Twist, and on her mother's paperwork and walls.
Throughout the years, she has done original multi-media design and illustrations for local and international musicians, small businesses, and non-profits from Norfolk, Virginia, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Nashville, Tennessee.
Now Rose Haywood is working to accept herself as an artist, and make friends with time, to go towards her dreams, create again, and inspire others to begin and/or continue in their passions, learn, grow, and heal, with the ideal that if it comes from your heart, it helps the world, and lives on, unique, in the infinite.
